Which Allowances And Benefits Will Continue To Be Paid?


The following allowances will continue to be paid:

i. Allowances relating to special conditions and/or circumstances that arise from time to time which require some compensation. These allowances and benefits are known as CATEGORY 2 ALLOWANCES. Examples of these allowances and benefits are acting, inducement, height, overtime and tools allowances. These allowances will, however, be rationalized and standardized.

ii. Allowances and/or benefits that are related to staff welfare or job that enhance the wellbeing of the employee and his/her family. These allowances and benefits are known as CATEGORY 3 ALLOWANCES. Examples are medical, funeral grant, night subsistence and transfer. These allowances will also be standardized.

iii. Allowances and benefits associated with providing accommodation and/or a standard of living for particular positions. These allowances are known as CATEGORY 4 ALLOWANCES. They include benefits/allowance relating to Housing, Utilities (electricity, water, and telephone), Domestics and Vehicles. These allowances and benefits will eventually be monetized.
