2018 Minimum Wage

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah on Tuesday 11th July, 2017 announced a 10% increase of the National Daily Minimum Wage.

The announcement follows a decision taken after the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) held a meeting at the Ministry’s conference room to discuss the increment of the national daily minimum wage.

Hon. Baffour Awuah stated that the new increment in the National Daily Minimum Wage is to be amended upwards from GH¢8:80 to GH¢ 9:68 taking effect from 1st January, 2018.

The Hon. Minister warned that “Any establishment, institution or organization that flouts the new rate shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law”.

He added that beneficiaries of the new rate were tax exempted.

Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah entreated all in attendance to help improve the incomes and productivity of the Ghanaian economy.
