FAIR WAGES AND SALARIES COMMISSION HOSTS MEDIA SOIREE

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) hosted a media soiree on Monday, November 25, 2024, in Accra.

The event, which brought together media practitioners and officials of the FWSC, aimed to celebrate the Commission’s achievements and strengthen its relationship with the media.

The Chief Executive of the FWSC, Ing Benjamin Arthur expressed his appreciation for the media’s support in promoting transparency and accountability.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Highlighting the Commission’s significant accomplishments in 2024, Ing Arthur noted that the FWSC had successfully implemented the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), completed and signed negotiation agreements with 44 unions and institutions, and saved the country GHc345 million through the Nationwide Payroll Monitoring exercise.

The Chief Executive also acknowledged the challenges faced by the Commission, particularly in the labour front.

VISION

The Director of Salary Administration, Cephas Amada, said the vision of the Commission is to become a world-class reference centre in pay administration, promoting fairness, equity and transparency in public services compensation and benefits.

The Director of Performance Management, Dr Baaba Anquandah spoke about an ongoing initiative to link pay to employee performance in the country’s public service and ultimately to productivity.

The media soiree provided a platform for media practitioners to interact with officials of the FWSC, ask questions, and seek clarification on issues related to fair wages and salaries.

The event was attended by representatives from various media outlets, including print, electronic, and online media.
